How fortunate we are to live in this protected area with one of the most majestic tribes in the world, the proud Maasai, who continue to practice their old customs high in the Ngorongoro Highlands’ thin, sharp air.

The Maasai are incorporated into many of the activities at the Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp out of respect for this area. Our Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp is a unique oasis hidden at the bottom of a valley, covered in a forest canopy.

This high altitude utopia is a magnificent location of dappled light, surrounded by the greenest greenery, and humming with activity. The rim of the Ngorongoro crater is only 13 km away.
