Uluguru Mountains is in the range of Eastern Arc Mountains and named after Luguru tribe who have been residing in the place for years. The mountains host number of flora and fauna species with other being endemic and found no where else.
Ulugurus’ weather is so cool and friends which makes it enjoyable to hike up and down the tremendous trails.
Are you looking for a stretch out and you are a nature lover with a day or two in Dar Es Salaam or Morogoro?! Then Uluguru Mountain is one of the escaping places.
Start your hike early in the morning after breakfast. It will take you 9 – 10 hours to hike to Bondwa peak (2080 above the sea level). On the way you will pass through lushy vegetation, meeting Luguru people, see and buy different berries that grow in this mountain such as blackberries, strawberries and raspberries; hearing beautiful bird songs and have a rest at Morning side with a beautiful view of Morogoro Town.
Continue with your hike to Choma and Kinole waterfalls where you will enjoy cooling waterfall shower from the fountains of Uluguru Mountains. Descend to Morogoro town where you will be dropped at your accommodation.
Mount Uluguru is one of the cooler places for a night camping. You can spend one or two days in Uluguru Mountain. You can hike to either Lupanga peak (2150 metres above the sea level) of Bondwa (2080 above the sea level).
Day 1: MORNING SIDE
You will start you journey in the morning. Hike to Morning Side via Choma village for about 3 hours. Have your breakfast and lunch at morning side. Get you tents pitched. Have leisure time enjoying the perfect few of Morogoro town and farming terrains from here. Dinner and overnight at Morning side.
Day 2: BONDWA PEAK
Proceed to Bondwa peak with beautiful sights of huge forests and other vegetations. Different streams of cold fresh water and soundings of variety of birds. Then descend back to morning side where you will have your lunch before proceeding to Morogoro town via Ruvuma village.
